Bowlers & Friends Since the Tournament ended last year the future of the event became doubtful. We were still without a Secretary and our finances were all but exhausted. The AGM finished with no resolution to the situation and it was agreed that the Tournament could not continue. One month was allowed in hope that a saviour would appear before the final decision was made. We were rewarded with an eleventh hour volunteer to take on the post of Secretary, in the name of Phil Boddy, and a subsequent volunteer to be Entries Secretary in the name of Ron Newman. And as you know now we are in business in 2010. I would like to thank all those involved on the committee for their commitment and enthusiasm in their endeavour to save an 83 year old event. We also need to thank everyone who has entered the Tournament; we have a very healthy number of Singles entries, the best in years, and numbers are up on the Pairs & Triples. We trust the weather will be kind, the bowling will be to your liking, and friendship and sportsmanship prevails. Norman Rumley (President)
Acknowledgements Special thanks go to the Green Keepers, Caterers, Markers, Umpire & Acting Umpires and all our sponsors. (A Fuller-Butcher, Olympic Signs, Julia Rogans & Henry Paul – Funerals) |
